The Nikaidos' Fall
Tatsuya Nikaido is a middle-aged widow who runs an agricultural company and lives in the suburbs with his daughter and mother. After the death of his only son, he had been pressured by his fate to save his family name and ancestral line as the only male in the family. Tatsuya's daughter, Yuko, cannot help feeling responsible for her family's survival even though she goes against traditional thinking. The only options left for them to save their family name were that Tatsuya remarried and had a son, or Yuko married a man who could take her family's surname as her father's mukoyoshi (adopted son-in-law). But they both fall in love with someone who is not suitable for those conditions. Tatsuya and Yuko struggle to be caught in a dilemma between their family obligations and their love. Meanwhile, Tatsuya's desperate mother indirectly takes action for the family's survival, leading to increasing tensions around Tatsuya and Yuko.
